Mannofield Residents United in Opposition to Post Office Closure Plan
Mannofield residents attending a public meeting at Mannofield Church Hall on Tuesday 24th June were united in opposing Post Office proposals to close their local Post Office.
Around 60 people attended the meeting and many spoke out strongly against the Post Office proposal.Mannofield, Broomhill and Airyhall councillor Ian Yuill said “Residents were united in wanting to save our local Post Office. Mannofield Post Office is an important local facility, used by many local residents and is an important part of our community. Its busy, well used and a viable busiiness. There is absolutely no justification for closing it.” Speaking at the piblic meeting, Ian Yuill urged residents to write to the Post Office objecting to their plans.
He commented “I was impressed by the strength of feeling shown by residents, many of whom have already written to the Post Office. Many other residents made it clear they would be doing so.”
Ian Yuill concluded “People have until 8th July to object and I will be doing absolutely everything I can until then to drive home the message to the Post Office that Mannofield Post Office should not close.”
