NEWS RELEASE – Council Committee supports long distance walk proposal

Aberdeen City Council’s Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure Committee today (Tuesday 13th September) supported a proposal by Liberal Democrat councillor Ian Yuill to look at the feasibility of establishing a long-distance ‘way’ from Aberdeen to Perthshire.

Ian Yuill said “Since I first proposed creating a long distance footpath from Aberdeen to Perthshire earlier this year, it has become very clear that there is strong support for the idea from all along the proposed route.

“Very importantly, there are already footpaths along much of the route and that will keep down the cost of creating it.

“Once established, a long distance footpath would attract more visitors to our area and benefit businesses all along the route.”
