Leave well alone , Deeside gardens etc have gone to Airyhall for years and should remain so we have never gone to Broomhill and as it is further to travel does not make sense. This appears to be nothing more than meddling for the sake of it.

Trevor, thanks for your comment. Please remember to respond to the council’s consultation.

This should not be happening from our house my boy currently has 0.5 miles to walk and 6 road junctions to cross. If this proposal goes ahead and we are re-zoned to Broomhill my youngest child would have to travel 1.5 miles and cross 15 road junctions including a very busy North Anderson Drive. There should also be some sort of adendum to allow current dual zoned nursery children attend Airyhall School if the planned change goes ahead. For safety purposes we should remain within the Airyhall Catchement are as is is closer and safer to attend. With the Council, Governement and schools all promoting walking cycling to school this will not be possible if Deeside Gardens is singularly re-zoned to Broomhill School. All of this has been submitted to the council and I will be attending tonight’s meeting.

I have recently been advised by a neighbour of the re-zoning and particularly the removal of the Dual-Zone Airyhall/Broomhill.

It seems that my daughter will be one of the few affected by this change and we were not consulted. I have my doubts if the parents of children expected to attend an affected school within 2 years of the date of
publication the Proposal Document were unless they had family, or a nursery place at Airyhall.

I currently live in Deeside Avenue and my daughter is four in October and will be due to start School in 2017.

Personally, for somewhat personal logistical reasons, I am quite disappointed as Airyhall School is situated closer than Broomhill for us is on the way to my work and perfect for drop off and closer to my daughter grandparents’ house in Craigiebuckler. My wife and I work full time and it is more than likely that my mother would be doing the majority of the collecting from school in the early years.

I also have concerns for when my daughter is a little older, walking from Deeside Avenue to Broomhill School is quite a distance and involves crossing Anderson Drive/A90 [1.2 miles], whereas the walk to Airyhall [0.7 miles] involves just crossing N.Deeside Road at the Springfield Road junction, and Broomhill School is 1.8 miles from Grandparents in Woodburn Gardens .
