South Anderson Drive and Anderson Drive verges

by Ian Yuill on 11 March, 2017

Photo of churned up grass vergeAfter being contacted by residents, I have once again urged the Chief Executive of Scottish Government agency Transport Scotland to take action to get the many bare and churned up areas on the grass verges of South Anderson Drive and Anderson Drive levelled and re-seeded or re-turfed.

These verges are in a disgraceful state and Transport Scotland and their contractor Bear Scotland have repeatedly failed to repair the verges. Year-after-year the condition of the verges gets worse and worse.

Anderson Drive is important as it is the first point of contact for many visitors to Aberdeen with its past Britain in Bloom successes. The verges (with tree stumps) and central reservations (previously evoking ‘Aberdeen – City of Roses’) will continue to require better management when no longer a trunk road. It should be handed back to the City in better condition than this.
