About Ian Yuill

Ian Yuill is Liberal Democrat councillor for the Mannofield, Broomhill, Airyhall, Garthdee, Kaimhill and Ruthrieston ward (ward 11) of Aberdeen City Council.

Ian was brought up and continues to live locally and has been a councillor for our area for over 17 years. Before his election as a councillor Ian was a member of Braeside and Mannofield Community Council for many years. He was the first ever Chairman of Airyhall Community Centre.

A former Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Aberdeen City Council and Deputy Leader of the Council between 2003 and 2007, Ian was appointed Vice Convener of the Council’s Finance and Resources Committee in June 2010 and subsequently Vice Converner of the Corporate Policy and Performance Committee in June 2011. In August 2011 Ian became the Chair of NESTRANS - the statutory Transport Partnership for Aberdeen City and Shire.

Ian’s first priority remains working for our local community and standing up for local people. He is always happy to assist residents with problems and complaints.

Ian has a particular interest in transport and the environment.

Ian is a regular attender at meetings of Braeside & Mannofield Community Council, Ashley & Broomhill Community Council, Garthdee Community Council, Ruthrieston Residents Association, Ruthrieston Community Centre Management Committee and Inchgarth Community Centre Management Committee.

A business studies graduate of the Robert Gordon Institute of Technology in Aberdeen, Ian is a Chartered Marketer and Member of both the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Chartered Institute of Public Relations. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and the Chartered Management Institute. Ian is a Common Purpose ‘graduate’.

Ian is a governor of Robert Gordon’s College.
