by Ian Yuill on 29 August, 2013

Aberdeen’s Liberal Democrat councillors today (Thursday 29th August) urged the City Council to extend an invitation to leading architect John Halliday to present his vision for the Union Terrace Gardens area to a meeting of all city councillors.

The move came in an emergency motion submitted to the 29th August meeting of the City Council’s the Enterprise, Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Committee by Liberal Democrat Group Leader Councillor Ian Yuill.

Ian Yuill commented “It is very early days but initial responses to John Halliday’s proposal have been positive and it certainly deserves consideration. That is why I have submitted an emergency motion to today’s committee meeting urging that Mr Halliday is invited to brief councillors on his vision. I very much hope Committee Convener Barney Crockett will accept my emergency motion for debate and that it will receive support from the whole committee.”

The text of the emergency motion submitted by Ian Yuill to the 29th August meeting of the Enterprise, Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Committee is:

“That this Committee welcomes the publication today of John Halliday’s vision for the transformation of the Union Terrace Gardens area and agrees to extend an invitation to Mr Halliday to brief all members of the Council on his proposal at an early date.”
