NEWS RELEASE – Countesswells decision ‘a missed opportunity’

by Ian Yuill on 19 August, 2015

Mannofield, Airyhall and Braeside councillor Ian Yuill has described today’s (19th August) decision by Aberdeen City Council to grant planning permission to build 3,000 houses at Countesswells as “a huge missed opportunity”.

Ian Yuill, who today proposed the council should refuse planning permission, said “The council had the opportunity today to put right the mistake it made in October 2014 and refuse permission to build 3,000 houses at Countesswells. Sadly it chose not to do so. This was a huge missed opportunity and residents in the communities around the Countesswells site will be paying the price of this for years to come.

“The roads and schools around the development just won’t be able to cope with the impact of all these new houses.”
