With many residents of Airyhall, Braeside and Mannofield badly hit by First Aberdeen’s changes to bus services, I thought it might be helpful to highlight the Community Transport Service which operates Monday to Friday between 10:00am and 2:30pm. This is a door to door dial-a-bus service for those who are unable to use conventional bus services, the elderly and disabled.
Although its operating hours are limited, this service may be helpful for some Airyhall and Braeside residents who wish to go to the shops at Mannofield or into the city centre. It could also be used by Mannofield residents to get to places such as Airyhall Library, Airyhall Community Centre and Seafield Post Office.
Further information about the Community Transport Service can be found here or by calling 01224 523765.
The Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) also offer transport services utilising volunteer car drivers, in order to assist older people to access services, such as heath and shopping etc. Further information can be can be found here or by telephoning 01224 552923.
Whilst these service may be of help to some residents they certainly are no replacement for the bus services removed by First Aberdeen.
