Inappropriate parking around St. Francis of Assisi Church

by Ian Yuill on 5 March, 2017

I have continued to receive complaints from people about inappropriate parking by some of those attending services at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Deeside Drive. This includes obstructing visibility by parking at junctions and parking across driveways.

I have raised this with Canon Barry, the Parish Priest, on a number of occasions and he does very regularly urge those attending services to park appropriately and safely. I have now contacted him again about this. I was pleased to be present on Sunday 29th January to see police officers speaking with a driver who had parked inappropriately.

I hope that this action by the police and Canon Barry’s regular reminders to those attending services will help discourage inappropriate parking in future.

The police have been giving the problem attention and the Parish Priest Canon Barry regularly reminds those attending services at the church to park appropriately.

This is still a problem every Sunday , lately when there was road works and materials were barriered off on one side of Deeside Drive those attend still parked opposite the materials to the point an ambulance or fire engine would not have been able to get up or down the hill. Also living in one of the cul de sacs off the drive getting out at 11:00am or 12:00 midday is nigh impossible due to those arriving parking across from people’s drives or blocking the view of the hill or as there is only one exit from the scheme blocking the hill to the point of one having to stay in your house until these times have passed
