South Anderson Drive flowerbeds in disgraceful state – action needed

by Ian Yuill on 28 September, 2017

Photo of flowerbed at South Anderson DriveI have called on council staff to properly weed the flowerbeds on the eastern side of South Anderson Drive between Holburn Street and Ruthrieston Road.

Parts of these flowerbeds are completely overgrown with weeds. It is a disgrace that one of the first things visitors to Aberdeen see when they drive up South Anderson Drive are overgrown flowerbeds.

I know it is difficult to get action from the trunk roads authority, if they are responsible, but is it not also time that the retaining wall damaged many years ago on the east side of South Anderson Drive, is repaired? It seems like a permanent feature now. The central reservation is also very unsightly and would be improved even if this was limited to pulling out dead plants, which could be done in minutes.

I have raised the damaged wall before. From memory, the problem is that Transport Scotland and the council are both arguing the the other should pay for the repair. I will raise it again.

I am so glad that you have requested these flowerbeds are weeded. I passed by them on my way to South Anderson Drive from its junction with the foot of Holburn Street a few days ago and I was disgusted at the state of them. Unfortunately, I was having problems with my computer and so much was going on in my life that I never did get round to reporting them.
