Broken up area of South Anderson Drive surface set to be repaired

by Ian Yuill on 13 January, 2018

Photo of South Anderson DRive road surface January 2018After being contacted by local residents, I urged Bear Scotland to repair the badly broken surface of the northbound carriageway of South Anderson Drive at its junction with Great Western Road.

Bear Scotland has now told me they will repair this road surface during week commencing Monday 22nd January.

Gordon Terrace is pothole alley once again. Patching up is no good whatsoever. Who do we contact to pay for the damage to our cars as a result of these potholes?

The action re. road surface is more important, but a couple of minor improvements could be made too. Can the broken retaining wall on the East side of South Anderson Drive be addressed, as it has been a feature for several years? I am not sure where responsibility lies, but it adjoins the carriageway. The central reservation planting is really poor in places and some of the dead wood would be better removed than retained.

I urged that the retaining wall be replied a considerable time ago. I understand that part of the problem is that there is a dispute between the council and Transport Scotland over which organisation is responsible for repairing the wall. Transport Scotland believes it should be the council and the council believes it is the responsibility of Transport Scotland. There is a similar problem with the wooden fence slightly further uphill from the broken section of wall.

Turning to the central reservation planting, this is the responsibility of Transport Scotland. I have raised this (and the condition of the grass verges) with Transport Scotland in the past but unfortunately it seems clear that these are a low priority for Transport Scotland.
