I have now received replies from council staff to the many enquiries I made on behalf of residents about problems with wheelie bin collections over Christmas and the New Year.
Unfortunately the replies are all the same – with only the street or area name changed.
This is the reply I received about problems with wheelie bin collections in Airyhall:
Good Morning Councillor
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the brown bins at Airyhall not being collected. Unfortunately due to operational difficulties over the festive period some collections did not take place on their scheduled date which had a knock on effect on our early January collections across the city. I can confirm that these bins have now all been collected and should be collected on their scheduled date going forward.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused and please do not hesitate to get in touch should you require further information.
The who situation over Christmas and New Year was unacceptable – especially as it came on top of ongoing problems which have continued since the wheelie bin collection arrangements were changes last spring. I will be continuing to pursue this with council staff.
