Potholes, potholes and more potholes

by Ian Yuill on 6 April, 2018

Photo of potholeThank you to everyone who has told me about potholes and broken areas of road surface over the last couple of weeks. It is very clear that, sadly, our local roads continue to deteriorate because of years of under investment by the Conservative / Labour controlled council.

I have contacted the Roads Department about all the problems people told me about. The roads I highlighted to the council included:

  • Braeside Terrace
  • Cranford Road
  • Duthie Terrace
  • Inchbrae Drive
  • Ivanhoe Road
  • Salisbury Terrace
  • Talsiman Drive

Some of these roads are in a disgraceful state with very large and deep potholes.

You can report potholes and other road and pavement problems to there council or, if you prefer, you can let me have the details.

I agree with you Ian about the state of the roads and I have reported some of them but the workers come with their magic machine and appear to fix some holes on the roads but leave out the rest. I don’t agree about the CoservativeLabour councils though. Wasn’t the SNP ruling Aberdeen until recently?

    • Ian Yuill says:

The council has been controlled by a coalition of Conservative, Labour and independent councillors since 2012.

Year-after-year my LiberalmDemocrat colleagues and I have proposed including significant extra in meet in road and pavement repairs and resurfacing in the council’s annual budget and, year-after-year, that has been rejected by the Conservative, Labour and Independent councillors.

    Reference to potholes,
In your last bulletin I highlighted Ruthrieston Crescent and circle on potholes but I see it is not on your list . Is this an oversite or are there too many with a higher priority

Thank you for pointing the problem of pot holes out . One of the worst is near your door so you don’t need other folk to tell you how bad it is.
As you said it is unacceptable and now a safety issue for people on bikes etc and driving when it is dark.
It is becoming like a third world country.
    Keep banging the drum !

    • Ian Yuill says:

Yes, there is a very large pothole near my home. I think the photo I used for this article I’d of that pothole!

I will certainly keep banging the drum. The council needs to invest more and properly repair and resurface our roads and pavements.

your forgot to add Hammerfield Avenue and Thorngrove Avenue to your list of potholed streets!
