Community council elections update

by Ian Yuill on 19 October, 2018

Graphic of people in meetingNominations for the elections to the four community councils covering our area have now closed – with mixed results.

In Braeside and Mannofield, eight people were nominated for the twelve available places. This means these residents are “elected unopposed” and will serve as community councillors for the next three years. You can find details of those elected to Braeside and Mannofield Community Council here.

In Garthdee, fourteen people were nominated for the twelve places available. That means an election will take place and Garthdee, Kaimhill and Ruthrie residents on the electoral register should by now have received a letter from the city council giving information about how they can vote. Online voting is now open and continues until 8pm on Thursday 25th October. People can also vote at Kaimhill Library during normal library opening hours until Wednesday 24th October and from 8am until 8pm on Thursday 25th October. You can find a list of those nominated to Garthdee Community Council here.

Sadly, in the Ashley and Broomhill and Ferryhill and Ruthrieston community council areas not enough nominations were received and no community councils will be formed. There is though a process for residents of these areas to seek to establish community councils in future.
