Twenty-five years ago today I was elected as councillor for the Auchinyell Division of Grampian Regional Council. Since then, through local government reorganisation and ward boundary changes, I have continued to represent our part of Aberdeen.

It is a huge privilege to represent this area – my home – on the council.

Back in 1994 I promised that, if elected, I would:

• be regularly available to deal with problems and complaints
• keep in regular touch with residents and seek residents’ views on issues affecting our area and our city
• speak up strongly for all local residents

As local councillor my priority has always been, and always will be, standing up for local people and for our area on the council.
