Success – potholes and broken areas in roads being repaired

by Ian Yuill on 11 July, 2019

The Roads Service has agreed to fill potholes and repair broken areas in streets in our area after I highlighted problems and urged that action was taken.

The roads where repairs have been made, or will shortly be carried out, include:

  • Airyhall Drive
  • Broomhill Avenue
  • Cranford Road
  • Devenick Place
  • Gordon Road
  • Holburn Road
  • Inchbrae Terrace
  • Kaimhill Gardens
  • Morningside Place
  • Nellfield Place
  • Ruthrieston Road

Whilst this is welcome, all-too-often when potholes and broken areas are filled they reappear within a few months – sometimes sooner.

The only long-term solution to Aberdeen’s crumbling roads and pavements is for the council to invest more in properly repairing and resurfacing roads and pavements. Sadly, year-after-year, the Conservative, Labour and Independent councillors who control Aberdeen City Council have rejected Liberal Democrat proposals for extra investment in road repairs and resurfacing.

My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I will continue making the case for extra investment in properly repairing and resurfacing roads and pavements in our city.
