CityFibre works continue over the summer

Contractors working on behalf of CityFibre are continuing to dig up pavements across our area. They are carrying out this work so they can lay new fibre cables which can provide Gigabit speed broadband services of up to 1000mbps to homes and businesses.
CityFibre’s contractors deliver leaflets to all the homes on the affected roads before work begins.
Parking and access restrictions will be in place on a number of roads in the weeks ahead but it is worth remembering in particular that:
- Illegally parked vehicles will be removed at the owner’s expense
- Access to properties will be maintained, but no through traffic will be possible.
- The no-waiting restrictions will only be implemented as and when required, and will be demarcated by the use of no-waiting cones for no more than 100 metres at a time.

What a load of rubbish. Morningside Avenue was dug up for fibre without any notification to residents either by leaflet or signs on lamp posts. The contractors just turned up and started work with no notice. I had to rely on notices in Kaimhill Road to find out what was happening.

We are on Morningside Avenue too and No we did not get leaflets through our door prior to work being done. As for access- our driveway had a pile of earth and stones right across it for a whole day. I’m out most days with the car but didn’t get out that day. I wasn’t desperate but could have been. As for work being tidy- the place where they dug their track looks like the person who filled it in had had a good few Beers as it’s all squiggly and looks terrible.

The quality of the work around Ferryhill is to be frank poor with cement smeared and splattered on recently refurbished pavements and fenced damaged where slabs have been stacked against. Expecting the same in Mannofield.
Yes, there have been some issues about the quality of the pavement reinstatement. If you experience a problem in this area, please either report it to CityFibre on 0800 1114669 or contact me and I will follow it up.
No leaflets received on Morningside Terrace.
I’ve had to sweep up the stones and debris left after the work was ‘completed’.
A section of pavement at the side of our property has had the tarmac removed and not replaced. In winter this will be highly susceptible to complete deterioration and become a potential trip hazard..
I have asked the pavement crews on numerous occasions to fully reinstate the pavement, they say yes – “tomorrow” and nothing gets done.
The quality of work is poor.

To be honest I am quite surprised to see that some CityFibre contractors did not ‘make good’ the areas where they had finished. Does anyone know if these issues were all resolved in the end?
Any problems should have been resolved when work finishes in an area. If there are any outstanding issues in our area please let me know.
