City libraries go online

by Ian Yuill on 18 April, 2020

Aberdeen City Libraries have has an online presence for some time and these services have seen an increase in use during the lockdown. All you need to access these services is your library card.

The library service has increased the number of digital resources available. These include BorrowBox, RB Digital UK and PressReader which provide free access to thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eComics and digital copies of newspaper and magazines, including the Press and Journal and Evening Express.

Aberdeen’s libraries are also looking into ways to engage with people via its website and social media channels. These includes providing online help and reading recommendations, Bookbug sessions for children delivered over YouTube and Facebook Live.

The Bookbug sessions can be viewed here:

You need to be a member of Aberdeen City Libraries to do this. From memory, the registration process for PressReader involves providing your library card number.
