Further roads changes planned to create more space for people

The council is continuing to make temporary changes to road and pavement layouts to create extra space for pedestrians so that people can social distance.
In addition to changes in the city centre, changes are being planned for neighbourhood shopping areas such as Culter, Torry and Rosemount. There are also plans to create more space for pedestrians at Aberdeen Beach. You can read more about these changes here.
I am continuing to urge the council to consult residents, businesses and others about these plans. It is vital that the council listens to the views of those who know areas best and will be affected by the changes.
My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I would like to hear your views and comments on these plans. If you have not already done so, I would be very grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to answer a few questions.

Please may I draw your attention to reducing traffic on Hayton Road and Don Street by increasing the width of the pavement at the railway bridge to allow for social distancing. Also to allow cyclists to safely use this road. This is a busy road used by a constant flow of cars using this route as a rat run. The new Diamond Bridge has created a huge increase of traffic to the Tillydrone / Woodside area and should be discouraged.

To think that 1.7 million pounds is being spent on alterations to our streets and roads is a disgrace and a complete waste of money that I’m sure could be used for more worthy causes.
I wonder if those in charge of this fiasco understand that Aberdeen is not the city it used to be with plenty of first class shops the length Union Street either side.
Now we have 3 shopping malls and looking at the area between Union Terrace and Market Street there is not that many shop on any quality and I cannot see this area being over crowded with people bumping into each other.
All through these trying times the thing that is missing from the so called experts is commonsense. There are two many so called party leaders jostling to try and get one over on each other.
I have written a letter to the P&J which was printed in the Wedensday edition a copy of which I shall forward to you.
They say these changes will be enforced as long as necessary and if the Provost and his mob have their way there will be no change.
To diverse a little regarding this disgraced councilor, if he had been employed by any other establishment his feet would’t have touched the ground and dismissed at once.
Its time Aberdeen council sorted its self out and took the appropriate action.
I am confident that you are of the same frame of mind as me and that its high time things were being done in the City with the wishes of the Aberdeen people.
