Good news – fortnightly mixed recycling and brown bin collections to restart

by Ian Yuill on 14 July, 2020

I am delighted that the council is to restart fortnightly brown bin and mixed recycling collections from Monday 3rd August.

Brown bin and mixed recycling collections were halted at the start of the lockdown before being re-introduced on a reduced frequency a few weeks later.

Whilst people have been very understanding of the need to reduce the frequency of these collections during the lockdown, I know that the return to a fortnightly collection will be very welcome.

    Dear Mr Yuill,

I contacted you earlier about difficulty accessing payment site for garden bin.
I was told there was a few problems which they hoped would soon be rectified.
You contacted Aberdeen Council which I appreciated.
Since then I was able to pay through my Apple phone but not through my Apple Ipad as access was denied.
Two friends have also had problems- one could not access the site either via her phone or iPad. When she finally managed to speak with a person at the Council office she was told her phone and iPad were not sufficiently updated to access the payment site.
Why can’t the Council use a site which allows any age of a phone or iPad to access the payment site.
My friends and I are in our mid seventies and don’t feel the need to up grade our phones and iPads every couple of years which seems a requisite of the younger generation.
I would appreciate it if you enlighten the Council of this problem.

    Thank you,
    Fiona Benzie.
