Shock as Mannofield TSB marked for closure

by Ian Yuill on 2 October, 2020

People have told me how surprised and shocked they are at TSB’s announcement that it plans to close its Mannofield branch.

The closure is scheduled for 23rd June next year.

The Mannofield branch is one of seven in Aberdeen that TSB has announced it plans to close. Only two branches will remain with the closest to our area being on St. Nicholas Street.

I have contacted TSB and called for a rethink of the closure plans.

In my email to TSB I said:

“In the hours since this decision was announced I have been contacted by a number of TSB customers and community leaders who are very concerned and alarmed at this decision. They made the point to me that this branch provides a vital and valued service. They also made the point that the closest remaining branch – St. Nicholas in Aberdeen city centre – is not a convenient alternative for many people.

“People have also told me they believe that TSB’s decision to close seven of its nine branches in Aberdeen is a disgraceful way to treat the many local customers who value TSB’s local branch network in our city.

“For all these reasons, I urge TSB to reconsider the decision to close seven branches in Aberdeen – and the Mannofield branch in particular.”

My colleagues and I have launched an online petition calling on TSB to reverse the closure plans. Please support this so we can send the strongest possible message to TSB.

  1. Mrs Dorothy Fraser says:

Thanks Ian for trying to convey Customers dismay at being treated so badly by TSB. I have been a supporter of the People’s Bank for over 70 years and just when you get more frail they are not there to assist. The Staff at Mannofield Branch have always been helpful and considerate and I do feel sorry for them.
