Broomhill Road gas works set to cause disruption

Gas main replacement work by Scottish Gas Networks is set to cause disruption on Broomhill Road and neighbouring streets between Monday 12th October and Christmas.

Restrictions will be in place from 7am on Monday 12th October until 6pm 23rd December 2020 – but not all the restrictions will be in place at any one time.

The gas main work will be carried out in phases and each phase will not being until the previous phase has been completed. Each phase is expected to last between one and two weeks. The parking restrictions will only be put in place as and when required and will be marked by the use of no-waiting cones. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed at the owner’s expense.

Phase 1 : Hammersmith Road will be one-way north-westbound between its junction with Broomhill Road and Great Western Road. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on the south-west side of the same stretch of road. The parking restriction will not be implemented on the whole length at any one time. An alternative route is available via Great Western Road, South Anderson Drive, and Broomhill Road. Gray Street will be closed at either side of its junction with Broomhill Road. An alternative route is available via Great Western Road, South Anderson Drive, and Broomhill Road, and via Broomhill Road and Holburn Street. There will be a prohibition of waiting on either side of Broomhill Road between Hammersmith Road and the southern boundary of number 131 Broomhill Road.

Phase 2 : Broomhill Road will be one-way between its junctions with Gray Street and Abergeldie Road. The permitted direction of travel will be north-eastbound only. An alternative route is available via Abergeldie Road, Holburn Street, and South Anderson Drive. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on either side of Broomhill Road between its junctions with Gray Street and Salisbury Terrace. Salisbury Terrace will be closed at its junction with Broomhill Road. An alternative route is available via Broomhill Road, Pitstruan Place, and Great Western Road. Hammersmith Road will continue to be one-way north-westbound between its junction with Broomhill Road and Great Western Road. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on the south-west side of the same stretch of road. Gray Street will remain closed either side of its junctions with Broomhill Road 

Phase 3 : Broomhill Road will be one-way between its junctions with Salisbury Terrace and Balmoral Place. The permitted direction of travel will be north-eastbound only. An alternative route is available Holburn Street, and South Anderson Drive. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on either side of Broomhill Road between its junctions with Salisbury Terrace and Broomhill Lane. Abergeldie Road will be closed at its junction with Broomhill Road. An alternative route is available via Broomhill Road, Holburn Street, and South Anderson Drive. Pitstruan Place will be closed at its junction with Broomhill Road. An alternative route is available via Broomhill Road, Holburn Road, and Great Western Road. Salisbury Terrace will remain closed at its junction with Broomhill Road. An alternative route is available via Broomhill Road, Holburn Road, and Great Western Road.

Phase 4 : Broomhill Road will be one-way between its junctions with Pitstruan Place and Balmoral Place. The permitted direction of travel will be north-eastbound only. An alternative route is available Holburn Street, and South Anderson Drive. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on either side of Broomhill Road between its junctions with Pitstruan Place and Balmoral Place. Balmoral Place will be closed at either side of its junction with Broomhill Road. An alternative route is available via Irvine Place and Holburn Road, and via Holburn Street and Broomhill Road.

Phase 5 : Broomhill Road will be one-way between its junctions with South Anderson Drive and Hammersmith Road. The permitted direction of travel will be north-eastbound only. An alternative route is available Gray Street, Holburn Street, and South Anderson Drive. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on either side of Broomhill Road between its junctions with Newlands Crescent and Hammersmith Road. Newlands Crescent will be one-way at its junction with Broomhill Road. The permitted direction of travel will be north-westbound only. An alternative route is available via South Anderson Drive and Broomhill Road.

Phase 6 : Broomhill Road will be one-way between its junctions with South Anderson Drive and Hammersmith Road. The permitted direction of travel will be north-eastbound only. An alternative route is available Gray Street, Holburn Street, and South Anderson Drive. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on either side of Broomhill Road between its junctions with South Anderson Drive and Newlands Crescent. Newlands Crescent will be one-way at its junction with Broomhill Road. The permitted direction of travel will be north-westbound only. An alternative route is available via South Anderson Drive and Broomhill Road.
