I have been contacted by residents concerned that some street lights in Braeside have been remaining on during the day.
I contacted council staff about this and have been told that the lights and their controls are being updated and that there has been a delay in getting parts to allow this work to be completed. This has led to the lights remaining on all the time.
The reply I received from from Council staff says:
“Officers confirm that this is due to the ongoing works to convert the lighting to LED in the area. As part of the project, we are adding nodes to the lanterns and connecting these to our Central Management System. This function will allow us to monitor the performance of the lighting and see faults as they happen and be able to action them. To do this, we need to change the power supply to a permanent live system which has left the likes of Braeside Terrace burning 24/7 until the lanterns are changed and connected to the system. This should have been done by now, but due to world wide component shortages, the supply of the parts has been held up. We are sorry for this delay, but can assure you that we will have this rectified as soon as the parts become available.”
Hopefully the parts will be received soon.

This will be part of the overall issue in Braeside. Hopefully the parts required to complete the upgrading of the lights will be received soon.
