Success – Council cuts back hedge blocking Ruthrieston footpath

by Ian Yuill on 30 September, 2021

After I highlighted the problem, the Council has cut back a hedge growing out over the footpath between Ruthrieston Crescent and South Anderson Drive.

Although the Council is responsible for maintaining this hedge, it is the responsibility of householders and landowners to ensure branches from hedges, trees and shrubs growing on their land do not grow out over pavements, roads and footpaths.

Please do let me know about any problems being caused by hedges, trees or shrubs growing out over pavements or roads in our area.

The grass between asda and Headland Court still uncut. When bear Scotland maintained the Anderson Drive they used to keep this area tidy

  2. Joanne says:

Wonder if the council could also intervene and either cut the hedges, or make the owners cut them, on Holburn Street, just at the corner of Nellfield Place. The owners there let them grow right across the footpath causing obstruction.

I raised this with Council staff last month. The Council has written to householders with hedges growing out over the pavement saying they need to cut back their hedge. If any householder does not cut back their hedge the Council will do so and invoice the householder for the cost of that work.
