Success – Cranford Road resurfaced

by Ian Yuill on 9 October, 2021

I am delighted that, after years of pressure, Cranford Road has finally been resurfaced.

This resurfacing should though have happened several years ago. Cranford Road had been in a disgraceful state for some time.

Sadly, many roads and pavements across Aberdeen are in a terrible state because the Conservative, Labour and Independent coalition that controls the City Council has year-after-year failed to invest more in repairing Aberdeen’s roads and pavements.

Year-after-year I have proposed investing more in pavement and road repairs and resurfacing as part of the Liberal Democrats’ balanced and carefully costed proposals for the Council’s annual budget – and every year the Conservative, Labour and Independent coalition reject that.

I will keep making the case for proper long-term investment in repairing and resurfacing Aberdeen’s crumbling roads and pavements. I will also continue to press for roads and pavements in our area to be properly maintained.

Delighted with the new road surface. It was long overdue. Thank you. However now that the road has been reopened we are back with the speeding rat runners. There are very few speed bumps on the lower half of the street and they are easily straddled by vehicles. Also can you please explain why the lovely new paving is not being continued down to the bottom of the street which was always in a worse state of disrepair.

Others have contacted me about the speeding and cars straddling the speed cushions and I have contacted the police and about the speeding and the council about the speed cushions.

Great to see Cranford Road resurfaced – a result !!

Now just need to bring other streets in Aberdeen up to the same standard.
And wish the Council would stop filling potholes with bags of ‘temporary tar’ – e.g. junction of Morningside Terrace and Morningside Road and Gordon Terrace.
Temporary = one week ! At best. Complete waste of money.
