Following a decision by the Church of Scotland to close Holburn West Church, a local group has been set up the save the church building for community use. Many groups depend on the Church building, at the junction of Great Western Road and Ashley Park Drive, as a venue for activities and meetings.
Over seventy people attended a public meeting on Wednesday 11th May in the Church. The meeting was organised by my colleague Martin Greig along with members of the Church and Ashley and Broomhill Community Council. Those attending were very keen to save the Church building for community use.
A group called One Voice was set up with the objective of taking over the Church building. Several people, including me, volunteer to be part of its committee which will be chaired by Martin Greig.
