Central Union Street reopens to buses

by Ian Yuill on 26 June, 2022

Update

I am delighted that central Union Street has now reopened to buses. Reopening central Union Street will make it more accessible to people with disabilities and limited mobility, some of whom have been effective excluded from much of the city centre for over two years.

Some bus services have already moved back to central Union Street and others will do so over the next week. Hopefully this will lead to more people coming back into our city centre.

You can find updates about First’s bus services here and Stagecoach’s services here.

My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I believe bus access to central Union Street must be maintained until permanent arrangements are made to ensure that part of Union Street remains accessible to people with disabilities and limited mobility.

I am delighted that the Buses are going down Union Street. I was on a No. 11 Bus today coming from Berryden and he went down Market Street. I realise now after reading your News Letter that all Buses will go down eventually. I’m lucky to be on the No. 1/2 Bus Route . Driver went down and back Union Street. Thanks for your Help Ian. Great getting back to normal.

Great buses are back going down Union Street. The heart of Aberdeen has gone it’s time to bring the beating heart back to the centre of town as it looks so drab and run down especially with all the empty shops.

As a constituent of your area, and a Aberdeen City Taxi Driver for over 50 years. I am bitterly disappointed that you and the Councillors haven’t included Taxis to be allowed back into Union Street. The disabled and less mobile public rely more on Taxis than buses to access their needs. For some reason Aberdeen councillors don’t seem to realise Taxis are every bit as important to citizens as buses are.I look forward to your reply regarding this matter.

    Best regards,
