Success – investment in Ruthrieston Outdoor Sports Centre

I am delighted that Sport Aberdeen has secured £140,000 of funding from the Lawn Tennis Association to upgrade the tennis courts at Ruthrieston Outdoor Sports Centre, off Pitstruan Place.

Sport Aberdeen has also commissioned a landscape architect to design wider improvements at the Outdoor Sports Centre. An outline of this scheme should be available soon.

I will organise a public meeting early in the New Year for residents to hear first hand from Sport Aberdeen about plans for the Outdoor Sports Centre – and for Sport Aberdeen to hear residents’ views of those plans.

Amongst the issues Sport Aberdeen wish to hear people’s views on are:

  • Would residents support a name change to Pitstraun Sports Hub?
  • If funding can be secured, would residents support the floodlighting of the tennis courts?
  • Would residents support creating a designated dog walking (fouling) area?

I will publish details of the public meeting one my website once the arrangements are confirmed.

Name Change & floodlights a good idea.

The grass area as a dog fouling area definitely not, it’s disgusting as it is! Turn back into a putting green or a new kids play park it’s wasted as it is now.

Why would you want dogs fouling around tennis courts!? Bizarre….

The clubhouse is wasted also, turn into a coffee shop a hub needs a meeting place & a coffee shop would work with outdoor seating in the summer in particular!

Delighted to hear about funding for the sports centre.
My husband and I attended a meeting years ago about this centre but nothing further happened.
We will definitely attend any meetings re the development if this facility. It could be a great asset to our area.

Couldn’t agree more with Simon D comments.

Any news on when the refurbishment works will start? With the good weather kind of staring would be a pity to miss the “summer” window.
