I am delighted that the Great Western Community Trust has secured £425,000 from the Scottish Land Fund to allow it to purchase the Holburn West Church buildings on Great Western Road. This will ensure that the church buildings will be retained and further developed for community use.

“Discover Africa” is a free community event for local residents organised by Great Western Community Trust, the AfriCulture Network, and Ashley and Broomhill Community Council. This free family friendly event will have live entertainment, delicious food, and children’s crafts.

The City Council is seeking people’s views on its 2024/25 budget in the face of having to bridge a budget gap of £35 million next year.

I am delighted the Council’s Roads staff have finally agreed to resurface Hammersmith Lane. This is the lane that runs between the rear of homes on Hammersmith Road and Gray Street between the rear of Broomhill School and Great Western Lane.

I recently met with residents, Council staff, and a representative of Big Issue E-Bikes to discuss problems linked to the e-bike pick up / drop off point on the pavement of Broomhill Road at its junction with Cranford Road.

After being contacted by a resident, I asked Council staff to remove a dumped mattress from Ruthrieston Circle.

Sadly, some of the play equipment at the new Devenick Place play are has been vandalised.

I have asked Council staff to cut back the bushes growing out over the pavement on the Kaimhill School side of Pitmedden Road. These bushes are obscuring a number of signs, including a school warning sign.

After I highlighted the issue, Council staff have removed a section of temporary barrier that had been left wedged behind a street light column on Hammersmith Road.

Council staff have agreed with my request for repairs to be carried out to speed cushions and the road surface of Morningside Road.
