Ian Yuill, Liberal Democrat councillor for Mannofield and Garthdee, has thanked council staff for acting quickly to block a route used by “joy riders” along a public footpath.
Ian Yuill had urged the Council to act to stop cars being driven from Deeside Drive in Mannofield across the Deeside Way (the old Deeside railway line) footpath to Auchinyell Road in Garthdee.
“Driving cars along one public footpath and across another was putting pedestrians, cyclists and others at huge risk. It was incredibly dangerous” said Ian Yuill.
“I raised this with both Grampian Police and Aberdeen City Council. I am delighted council staff have been able to act so quickly and block car access to the railway line from Deeside Drive.
“This was a very dangerous situation and I am very pleased the Roads Service acted so quickly.”
Ian Yuill revealed he has also asked the Roads Service to block car access to the railway line footpath from Auchinyell Road.
He said “The boulders at Deeside Drive are stopping this being used as a through route but cars are still being driven onto the railway line from Auchinyell Road. I have asked the Roads Service to block that access as well.”
