Over the last five years nearly 10,000 traffic cones, worth just under £50,000, have disappeared in Aberdeen.
It is not just single cones that are being removed – entire groups of cones are being stolen.
I first became aware of the problem of groups of cones being stolen when I was contacted by residents of Morningside after a whole set of cones were removed from Morningside Road, Morningside Avenue, Morningside Gardens and Broomhill Road overnight earlier this year. Stealing these cones, which had been put down because of road safety worries, put people’s safety at risk.
You can read more about this in an “Evening Express” article here.

Do these cones have Aberdeen Council or any other security markings on them? Reason for this question is that these cones can be ‘borrowed’ and used by any Contractor if there is no way of making sure these items cannot be ‘borrowed’. Have you checked with the APWR people?
