Anderson Drive verges and central reservations must be improved

by Ian Yuill on 27 April, 2019

I have urged council staff to act to improve the maintenance of the planted areas in the central reservations and verges of Anderson Drive and South Anderson Drive. I have also called for roses to be replanted in the gaps in the central reservation.

Responsibility for managing these roads passed from the Scottish Government agency Transport Scotland to Aberdeen City Council when the roads were “detrunked” earlier this month.

Grass cutting and the maintenance of the planted areas in the central reservations and verges of Anderson Drive and South Anderson Drive was very, very poor whilst the roads were managed by Transport Scotland and their contractor Bear Scotland.

The grass verges on South Anderson Drive and Anderson Drive are currently being cut for the fist time since these roads were “detrunked”.

So pleased that something is finally being done about the disgraceful state of the verges etc on Anderson Drive. Is the Council now also responsible for the maintenance of the brown tourist signs as well? If so, could you please ask them to replace the one for the Palm Court just before the junction with Seafield Road? It is filthy, the edging is hanging off and it is hanging at an angle of around 45 degrees from the post. Not a good advert for Aberdeen city at all.

Can the council also do something about the appalling tyre tracks and deep furrows on the grass verges at the side of Anderson Drive – it looks appalling !!
Hopefully re-occurences will be few and far between since AWPR opened.

Like the roundabouts, why not also offer up 100 yard lengths of the central reservations to corporate sponsorship in order to reinstate roses.
