The list of roads and pavements scheduled to be resurfaced over the next 11 months was confirmed at a meeting of the council’s Urgent Business Committee on 6th May.
Whilst these plans have been approved, it is possible that not all the work planned for this year will be completed because of the restrictions imposed because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
I am pleased that the following roads in our area are scheduled for work:
Pavements on the following roads are to be resurfaced:
Street lights
It is also planned to replace a number of corroded street light columns in Mannofield, Braeside, Airyhall and Garthdee. Inefficient street lights in Mannofield are also scheduled to be replaced.
Drainage
Work to improve street drainage is planned for Airyhall Drive, Ruthrieston Crescent and Ruthrieston Road.
Whilst this is good news, I will continue to press for other broken and potholed roads, uneven pavements and outdated street lights in our area to be resurfaced and properly repaired.
You can find the full details of the roads and pavements to be resurfaced – and all the other work planned – here.

I have to say if I’m reading this correctly I am disgusted and appalled Cranford Road isn’t being resurfaced! Tbh I didn’t expect any given the circumstances but given some are I’m horrified! No surprises though given it’s an ACC decision!
I share your frustration. Cranford Road is though on the reserve list of roads to be resurfaced. Should any of the planned projects for 2020/21 be unable to proceed then projects from the reserve list are chosen to replace those. More importantly, roads which are on the reserve list for one year tend to be on the main list of roads for resurfacing the next year. There is though no absolute guarantee of this.
I would have thought that Gray Street would have been earmarked to be resurfaced. It badly needs to be repaired.
Thanks for latest update. As a matter of interest, do you know if missing trees ,such as outside 63, are to be replaced.
It was blown down years ago, and never replaced, and there is at least one more.
Could you tell me please to which road you are referring.
I regularly highlight missing street trees to council staff.
This is really good news, however do you know when the Transport Scotland (2019) Act will be enforced? In particular, the no pavement parking rule? In the last few years, I have noticed more and more drivers are doing it, and with bigger and bigger cars. I saw a Porsche SUV driver straddle a pavement and a double yellow line as recently as this morning. It would be a tragic waste of money if our nice new pavements got squished!
The pavement parking provisions of the Transport Scotland (2019) Act cannot be enforced until Transport Scotland / the Scottish Government publish regulations and guidance. I understand this may be some time yet.
