If you have received a small packet of unsolicited seeds through the post, please do not open it.
The National Farmers’ Union Scotland has said a “significant” number of people across Scotland have received these packages through the post. The packages are marked as coming from China or Singapore.
Please do not open the packet. The seeds should not be planted or composted. Please do not handle the seeds.
NFU Scotland said it is “possible” that the seeds could be dangerous invasive species, contain pesticides or harbour diseases, and planting them could pose a risk to agriculture or the environment.
If you have received such a package, please email Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA), a government agency, your name and home address. SASA will then send you a pre-paid envelope along with a zip-lock bag, which can be used to send the packet of seeds to SASA.
