Aberdeen City Council has published details of how it intends to deal with snow and ice over the winter.
The plans for clearing snow and gritting icy pavements and roads are contained in the council’s annual Winter Maintenance Plan. This year’s plan is very similar to last year’s and retains the same priority system for the clearance of roads and footways. The full plan can be found here.
Once gritting and snow clearing begins, you can track the progress of the council’s gritters in real time here.
There are over 900 grit bins in residential areas across the city. You can find your nearest grit bin on this map. Sadly, as in previous years, the council is not accepting any requests for additional grit bins.
Applications for the one tonne salt bag will be opening up later this month and these too can now be topped up if they start running low. Please keep checking this link or the local press for details.
