Work to demolish the lock up garages at the Woodies off Broomhill Road should start once an asbestos survey has been carried out and any asbestos found is then safely removed.

The Council now has vacant possession of the site. Planning permission for amenity landscaping of the garages area was conditionally granted on 21st December.

After I asked for an update on the demolition of the garages, I was told by Council staff:

“We understand any demolition works will be determined following the outcome of an asbestos survey, design approval amongst other conditions that will be required to be met before demolition can commence.”
