Aberdeen City Council has received union notification of strikes involving waste and recycling staff between Wednesday 24th August and Thursday 1st September and between Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 14th September as part of national action being carried out at councils across Scotland.
You can find more information about what this means for households here and businesses here.
Household waste and recycling centres across Aberdeen will thoughremain open.
Council staff pay is negotiated nationally by the trade unions and COSLA, the body representing Scottish councils.
The current pay offer made by COSLA is a 3.5% increase. Unless the Scottish Government gives councils more money or allows councils greater flexibility in how they use existing funds, any pay increase above 3.5% would mean Aberdeen City Council having to make cuts to the services it provides for residents.
UPDATE : on Friday 19th August COSLA agreed to make an improved offer of a 5% increase.
