Countesswells Road speeding action

by Ian Yuill on 24 May, 2024

The Police have carried out speed checks on Countesswells Road after I highlighted residents’ concerns about speeding drivers to them.

I regularly urge the Police to carry out speed checks on Countesswells Road at and west of Airyhall School. I raised this most recently with the Police after being contacted by a number of people who were very concerned about the extreme speeds of some drivers on this part of Countesswells Road.

I have again called on the Council to install a pedestrian crossing on Countesswells Road to the west of Airyhall School. I have also urged the Council to consider ways of reducing speeds on this part of Countesswells Road.

I think your proposal for Countesswells Road will be most welcome by all residents old & young in the Airyhall/Braeside area. I also think the same measures should be considered for Craigton Road where school children have to cross several times a day plus it is a bus route. When my children went to Airyhall school we had a crossing patrol person at school times.

Astrid Gray, me asking is the easy bit, the Council taking action is another matter entirely. I am though a great believer in “if you don’t ask, you don’t get”.

I will contact Council staff about Craigton Road.

How about a speed watch on Anderson Drive between Broomhill roundabout and the garthdee roundabout especially in the evening. Its like a race track.
