Aberdeen City Council is meeting at 2pm on Wednesday 22nd February to set its budget for 2017/18.
A huge £13 million cut in the council’s funding imposed by the SNP Scottish Government means a massive real terms reduction in the money available for vital local services in our city.
My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I will submit budget proposals to the council meeting which will prioritise education, social care and tacking the problem of our city’s crumbling roads and pavements. We will also propose action to help local local businesses hit by massive increases in non domestic rates bills at a time when our local economy and many local businesses are facing major challenges.
The council’s budget setting meeting – like all council meetings – is open to the public. It is also webcast live.
