A senior Council manager has now confirmed that resurfacing Hammersmith Lane will not take place until April 2024. This delay has been caused both by a private contractor not having the needed specialist equipment to carry out the work in November as was planned and the need to give three months notice of the rescheduled roadworks.

This is hugely frustrating and I have asked what, if any, action the Council can taker against the contractor for failing to carry out the work as planned. I have also asked that the Council once again fill the potholes in Hammersmith Lane.

The email I received from the senior manages says:

“The works were put out to a private contractor who unfortunately had planned to commence on 20^th November before realising they required specialist equipment to carry out the works. Due to the time of year and statutory notice period for carrying out works on a road, this has now been delayed until April 2024. Please be assured that the team are currently re-programming and this will be planned to commence during the first two weeks in April.

“I can only apologise for the confusion this has raised locally and we will do our best to prevent this from occurring on future works.”
