Ian Yuill, Liberal Democrat councillor for Mannofield, Broomhill, Garthdee and Ruthrieston, has welcomed the news that council education officers are recommending Harlaw Academy remains open.

The area Ian Yuill represents includes most of Harlaw Academy’s catchment area.

“This is fantastic news” said Ian Yuill. “Its clear the education officers have listened to the strong and positive case made to keep Harlaw Academy open.

“Although it is up to next Thursday’s meeting of the Education, Culture and Sport Committee to decide this issue, the fact that education officials are recommending Harlaw Academy stays open is wonderful news.”

Ian Yuill concluded “I want to thank everyone who has been campaigning on behalf of Harlaw – pupils, parents, the Parent Councils and others – for their fantastic efforts and the strong positive arguments they have made to keep Harlaw Academy open.”
