Liberal Democrat councillor Martin Greig said “This charge is unwarranted and unfair. It is no more than greed and profiteering by the airport’s owners.

Martin Greig continued “‎This charge sends completely the wrong message at a time when passenger numbers have been falling. The airport’s action has rightly outraged travellers. This charge should be dropped now.”

Ian Yuill, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Aberdeen City Council added “The Liberal Democrats have today launched a campaign calling on the airport’s management to drop the drop off charge. This charge should never have been introduced last year, it should certainly not have been doubled this year – and it should be dropped immediately.”

‎Martin Greig, Ian Yuill and the Liberal Democrats have set up a website www.dropthedropoffcharge.org.uk where residents, businesses and visitors to the North East can highlight their support for the campaign. The campaign also has a Facebook page and a Twitter profile.

Ian Yuill concluded “We hope as many people as possible will back our campaign so we can send a very strong and clear message to Aberdeen International Airport’s management – ‘drop the drop off charge’.”
