Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere is on Friday 21st December this year. The Winter Solstice is the day in the year which has the least amount of daylight.
The Winter Solstice has been celebrated around the world of millennia.
Sunrise in Aberdeen on 21st December is at 8.46am with sunset coming just 6 hours and 41 minutes later at 3.27pm. In contrast, Aberdeen will have 17 hours and 56 minutes of daylight on 21st June next year, the Summer Solstice.
