Liberal Democrat councillor for Mannofield, Airyhall, Braeside, Broomhill, Garthdee, Kaimhill and Ruthrieston Learn more

Aberdeen City Council and NHS Grampian have finally agreed to my request to close the “rat run” through the car parks of Airyhall Clinic and Airyhall Library used by a small minority of driver.
These drivers cut through the Clinic and Library car parks to get from Springfield Road to Countesswells Road without going through the lights at the junction of these roads. This is a very dangerous thing to do and puts children coming out of the Airyhall Community Centre play area, and Clinic, Library and Community Centre users at risk.
Bollards will be installed to make it impossible to drive between Springfield Road to Countesswells Road through the car parks.

I urge you to do something regarding the light timings of the Springfield road. This is why most people take the short cut through the clinic and community Centre.
The light timings are designed to be fair to drivers and pedestrians. If the northbound phase on Springfield Road was lengthened it would mean longer waits for other drivers and pedestrians. I will though raise your concerns with council staff.
Absolutely agree.
But on the subject of these traffic lights: are you aware that if you ‘just’ miss going through, you then have to wait just a few seconds shy of TWO MINUTES before they change in your favour again.
Is it possible to have ba rethink over the timings here please?
I will raise your concerns with council staff.
