Success – Hammersmith Lane to be resurfaced

by Ian Yuill on 23 September, 2023

I am delighted the Council’s Roads staff have finally agreed to resurface Hammersmith Lane. This is the lane that runs between the rear of homes on Hammersmith Road and Gray Street between the rear of Broomhill School and Great Western Lane.

Although the part of this lane running along the rear of Broomhill School was resurfaced recently, the section between the rear of homes on Hammersmith Road and Gray Street was not. This part of the lane has been in a truly awful condition for far too long and I pleased that the Council’s Roads staff have finally agreed to take action.

I have been told that, subject to the weather, the resurfacing work will take place during the week commencing Monday 20th November.

Whilst it is great that that Hammersmith Lane is to be resurfaced, years of under investment by the Council mean many more roads and pavements in our area also need to be resurfaced or properly repaired. That is why, when my colleagues and I took control of the Council last May, we committed to investing more Council funds in road and pavement resurfacing and repairs.

The first opportunity we had to do that was when the Council set its budget in March this year when we added £4 million to the road and pavement repairs and resurfacing budget. We will continue to do this in the years to come to help bring Aberdeen’s roads and pavement up to a better standard.

Please do let me know about any problems with roads and pavements in our area.
