‘Discover Africa’ – free event on Sunday 5th November

“Discover Africa” is a free community event for local residents organised by Great Western Community Trust, the AfriCulture Network, and Ashley and Broomhill Community Council. This free family friendly event will have live entertainment, delicious food, and children’s crafts.

This celebration of African culture will be held at Holburn West Church on Sunday 5th November from 2pm to 5pm. Admission and activities are free. You can book your free ticket(s) here.

Activities will include:

  • Children’s crafts, including Adinkra symbol printing on canvas bags and Egyptian hieroglyphs printing on real Papyrus paper.
  • Story Time Corner with AfriTales for the little ones.
  • Learning corner where children will be able to learn about Batik Art and discover different African countries through puzzle maps.
  • Entertainment including African tunes by David Imevbore, performances by dance group Touch of Love and more.
  • The chance to taste some delicious West African Street Food.
  • Bongo Dave and his range of percussion instruments with his interactive drumming workshop.
  • A pop up shop where you’ll be able to purchase Moroccan delicacies, tea and soap.

Excluding the Moroccan pop up shop, everything at this community event is free.
