Community council elections update

by Ian Yuill on 19 October, 2018

Nominations for the elections to the four community councils covering our area have now closed – with mixed results. In Braeside and Mannofield, eight people were nominated for the twelve available places. This means these residents are “elected unopposed” and will serve as community councillors for the next three years. You can find details of […]

South Anderson Drive flowerbeds – action needed

by Ian Yuill on 15 September, 2018

I have urged council staff to weed the flowerbeds on the eastern side of South Anderson Drive, uphill from the Garthdee roundabout. These flowerbeds are in a disgraceful state. Please do let me know about any other areas of council land needing weeding or grass cutting. Sign up here to receive more local news and information […]

It is a disgrace that damaged sections of the retaining wall on the eastern side of South Anderson Drive on the southbound approach to the Garthdee roundabout remain unrepaired – years after the damage was first caused. South Anderson Drive is a trunk road and is managed by the Scottish Government agency Transport Scotland. I […]

The damaged to the pedestrian island on Holburn Street near Ruthrieston Community Centre has now been repaired after I reported this issue to council staff. I am pleased to see that extra “keep left” signs have been added to the pole which should hopefully make the island more visible to drivers and prevent further accidents. […]

Sign […]

The barriers which have been blocking the footpath from South Anderson Drive to Holburn Street have finally been removed – months after they were first put up without permission by a neighbouring business. Different reasons for the barriers being put up have been given over the last few months – anti-social behaviour, a dangerous building and, most recently, […]

I have now received replies from council staff to the many enquiries I made on behalf of residents about problems with wheelie bin collections over Christmas and the New Year. Unfortunately the replies are all the same – with only the street or area name changed. This is the reply I received about problems with wheelie […]

Festive wheelie bin emptying shambles

by Ian Yuill on 7 January, 2018

I have been contacted by residents from many parts of our area – including Airyhall, Braeside, Broomhill and Ruthrieston – about problems with wheelie bins not being emptied on schedule over the Christmas and New Year. There seem to have been particular problems with the brown wheelie bin collections which had been rescheduled from Christmas […]

Wheelie bin collections – what’s your view?

by Ian Yuill on 23 November, 2017

You may have seen press reports that Aberdeen City Council may change household wheelie bin collections from once a fortnight to only once every three weeks. Aberdeen’s Liberal Democrat councillors would oppose changing to collections once every three weeks. Residents’ Survey I would like to hear what you think of the current domestic waste and […]
